Dr. Ong obtained her Master's Degree (2004) and Doctorate in Medicine, TCM (2007) from Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China, studying under renowned professors including TCM ophthalmology specialists Professor Ding Shu Hua and Professor Huang Yu Liang. From 2002 to 2004 she served as an acupuncturist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital's Rehabilitation Centre and Acupuncture Department, treating stroke, spinal cord injury and neurological conditions.

She has completed specialist tutelage under leading professors in China in TCM dermatology, gynaecology (infertility, endometriosis, PCOS) and oncology. Her roots in Chinese medicine run deep: as a child she learned from her grandfather, a traditional Chinese physician from Fujian, observing clinical cases from a young age. She has served as a council member of the Singapore Chinese Physicians' Association and as an honorary physician at Chung Hwa Free Clinic.
