Women's health & fertility

TCM care for menstrual health, PCOS, endometriosis & fertility

Our physicians — including founder Dr. Ong Swee Ling, who trained in TCM gynaecology under leading professors — help women regulate their cycles, ease menstrual pain and support their journey to conception.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a healthy menstrual cycle reflects overall balance in the body. Many women's health concerns — from painful or irregular periods to difficulty conceiving — can be improved by regulating the cycle, nourishing the blood and correcting underlying imbalances. Dr. Ong Swee Ling completed specialist tutelage in the TCM treatment of infertility, endometriosis and PCOS under a well-known gynaecology professor in Quanzhou, China.

Conditions we treat

  • Menstrual pain / cramps (痛经)
  • Irregular periods — early periods (月经提前), delayed periods (月经延后)
  • Absent periods / amenorrhea (闭经)
  • Heavy or prolonged bleeding
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Endometriosis (子宫内膜异位症)
  • Fibroids
  • Fertility & conception support

How we treat women's health concerns

  • Herbal medicine to regulate the menstrual cycle and address the root pattern.
  • Acupuncture to support hormonal balance, circulation and stress reduction.
  • Dietary & lifestyle guidance — for example, avoiding cold drinks and bubble tea, which our physicians often find worsen menstrual problems.
  • Nourishing support for patients who are fatigued or run-down.

“My husband and I were married about 7 years and I could not conceive. I had confidence in Dr. Ong Swee Ling. I faithfully took her Chinese medicine for three months. I had my first child in 2012 and my second child in 2014. I highly recommend this clinic — they listen and are attentive.”

— Fertility patient

Actual case: A young woman experienced her period arriving 7–10 days early for several months. After consultation, our physicians found she frequently took cold drinks and bubble tea. With advice to stop, together with Chinese medicine to regulate her menses, her cycle normalised within three months.

Fertility patient examples

Seven years, two miscarriages, one last try. In October 2008, a couple — the wife 37, the husband 39, married seven years — came to Dr. Ong for what they called a last try. The wife had had two miscarriages and an unsuccessful IVF attempt. Dr. Ong prescribed three months of herbal medicine for both husband and wife; the wife noticed her menses became more regular with less clotting, and the couple patiently continued with a further course. In September 2010 they returned to the clinic — carrying their newborn, conceived in October 2009. As Dr. Ong tells it, the credit goes to the couple's determination.

Male fertility matters too. A 33-year-old man came with hospital seminal tests showing low sperm count and slow motility, which had worsened despite supplements. After a course of herbal medicine, his repeat hospital test showed improvement across volume, concentration, total count, motility and vitality. We treat fertility as a matter for both partners.

Dr. Ong trained in gynaecology under Professor Zhong Xiu Mei 钟秀美 of Quanzhou Hospital of TCM, a renowned specialist in fertility and gynaecological conditions. Individual results vary — fertility outcomes depend on many factors, and no treatment can guarantee conception. These accounts were previously published on our clinic blog.
