Weight management
TCM weight management & slimming acupuncture in Singapore
A physician-designed programme of cupping, acupuncture, moxibustion, heat treatment and massage — run in our clinics for over 20 years, built around your health, not just the scale.
Many patients come to us for weight management not for appearance, but for health — often on their family doctor's advice, because excess weight is straining their knees, their back or their blood pressure. Our clinics have run a TCM weight-management programme for more than 20 years, designed individually by our physicians around each patient's health conditions and lifestyle.
What the programme involves
- Cupping, acupuncture, heat treatment, moxibustion and massage in each session, to improve circulation and reduce cellulite.
- Optional herbal medicine, prescribed if you wish to support the programme from within.
- Individual design — our physicians first assess conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and heart issues before planning treatment.
- Practical dietary guidance — no supper, and less oily food, sugary food and cold drinks.

Patient example
A 65-year-old lady weighing about 92 kg came to us with hypertension, water retention, back pain and knee pain so severe she could not squat. Her family doctor had advised losing weight to take pressure off her knees. “Not to be beautiful,” she told us, “but to stay healthy.” Her programme combined cupping, acupuncture, heat treatment, moxibustion and massage with simple dietary changes.
Another patient in the programme lost about 5 kg in her first month and continued for two more — around 13–14 kg in total. She told us her body felt lighter, she tired less easily, could squat better and had less ache and pain. Patients often find their digestion, bloatedness, neck stiffness and back pain improve along the way.
Weight management takes at least two to three months of consistent treatment, and individual results vary. These accounts were previously published on our clinic blog.
Weight management FAQs
How does TCM weight management work?
Each session combines cupping, acupuncture, heat treatment, moxibustion and massage to improve circulation, reduce cellulite and support the body's metabolism, with optional herbal medicine. It is paired with practical dietary advice — avoiding supper, oily and sugary food, and cold drinks.
How much weight can I expect to lose, and how fast?
Weight management takes patience — allow at least two to three months to see results. As one example, a patient in our programme lost about 5 kg in her first month and around 13–14 kg over three months, alongside better energy and less ache and pain. Individual results vary considerably.
Is it safe if I have hypertension or diabetes?
The programme is designed individually by our physicians, who will first assess conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and heart issues, and your lifestyle. Tell your physician about all medication you are taking.
Is this only about appearance?
No — many of our patients come on their doctor's advice to reduce load on their knees and improve overall health. Patients often report that neck and back pain, digestion, bloatedness and bowel movement improve alongside the weight loss.
